It's yo boi Shitmon Goon YOUNGSTER DRAP in the cut with some hot new shitmon nominations. I've played this tier from here to there, and don't have a FULL grasp on this metagame, however I must say from past experiences this is probably the most fun and balanced I've seen this metagame. With that said, there's a lot of room for some cool innovations to take advantage of the long lasting trends that like Torkoal, Skarmory and such. With that said, let's get onto some noms!
Rises:
A- to A
I've really enjoy using Bouffalant I think it's quite a great pokemon in this current metagame. Assault Vest is probably the best trapper in the metagame, and is the sole reason I'm nominating this pokemon up. It's massive bulk plus assault vest allows it to check some really wild card pokemon like Lunatone, Oricorio-Pom and Sensu, and Sigilyph. This set can remove them from the game and allow bulky wish cores to feel less pressure overall. That being said, Wish cores also provide this set with some pretty great recovery, and I think that this pokemon is easily one of the better defensive staples right now. I also think SD is quite impressive, sporting one of the strongest attack stats in Shitmons, once this thing gets and SD up it gets quite intimidating due to it's crazy bulk, defensive cores are quite troubled. I tried an Iapapa Bulky set on TR, and that was impressive in what I could pull off with it, I think this could easily work outside of TR due to how fat it is. SUB SD sets with pursuit support is also something I think we should be looking towards seeing as Defensive god struggles to break the sub with sun boosted lava plume and Tspikes are quite handy from Qwilfish. This is an easy A rank pokemon, and I can see it reaching A+ in the future with more testing.
A- to A
Ok this mon is highkey BRAZY, I don't even know what the hell this thing runs because everyone is running their own innovations, and the all do fucking well. That being said, I'll go off of some really standard analysis from what I've seen this mon do. The jist of this pokemon is it's really strong capable of pressuring a lot of cores with the combination of Psychic/Power Gem/Ice Beam. Being a great pivot into god makes this mon very great, and can soon turn god into a liability if you aren't properly equipped to taking this pokemon on. Suprisability makes this pokemon frightening just from the Team Preview, simply because it can manipulate what checks it via it's vast amount of sets. CM Z sets are capable of taking full advantage of fat teams, while RP sets can easily get out of hand for more offensive teams if not handled properly. Being able to pressure both these teams, just from the preview is a strong ability in it's own and merits A ranking. It's also a great offensive stealth rock setter since no removers can switch into this pokemon safely, which is a very daunting task to deal with when hazard stacking is very strong right now.
B+ to A-
Steel pikaclone is on the rise! I'm quite impressed with how well specially defensive sets do, but they're quite impressive as a check to special flying and electric types, which is where I think it's niche stands out above other special walls. Wish Pass is strong, and Audino and Alo both can lose momentum and allow in offensive stallbreakers like the Oriciorios, but Togedamaru generates momentum with U-Turn and can wall these breakers at the same time. With Lunatone on the rise, you can wall all sets that are't running Earth Power as well so that's a great plus. Spiky Shield is nice chip for scouting versus choice locked fighting types, and allows it to steal away initiative from Sawk and Passimian. Gives this cute boi a rise.
B to B+/A-
Look guys I don't like this racism against the other local turtle race. TURT IS FIRE. Ok so let's get into why I really like this pokemon. Firstly, Sub Shell Smash with Dragonium Z has absolutely no counterplay whatsoever, and this fat metagame let's this monster get multiple Shell Smashes very easily, after a Shell Smash Timid Turt is faster than every Shitmon to my understanding, making incredibly potent. Substitute makes it somewhat difficult to revenge with scarfers, and not to mention it's impressive bulk, even after a shell smash drop. Now here's where it gets nutty, in this wish pass meta you can reheal this mon up and shell smash again, it's insane and very great to have a sweeper that you can reheal very easily thanks to it's synergy with wish passers. Due to everything I've mentioned above, you don't want to let this pokemon have a second go at your team after nabbing a potential 2 kills easily before needing to be healed up. That being said, I think Choice Specs has the potential to be quite difficult to deal with, but nothing really wants to switch into it so it's a guessing game. Turt also gets Taunt, so I think a stall breaker set may be cool with Sub since not much breaks its sub. Overall its stab combo is insane and it's bulk is great for Shitmon level, I wouldn't bat an eye at this pokemon.
B- to B
Tail Glow Volbeat is a cool wallbreaker that can function as a soft ground check, which is why I originally started using it. +3 z Thunderbolt is very hard for teams to switch into, and breaks common cores of Mola+God. Prankster let's this set heal off damage effectively versus offensive checks and stay healthy which gives it much needed longevity. Overall I think it's actually a solid pokemon, and can really do some serious damage if you're not careful. It needs support as offensive pokemon really do give it a hard time, and it needs to be careful of status. I wouldn't rise it above here as I don't think it's THAT great, but I think it has some serious merit as a wallbreaker with support.
C to B
I wasn't sure where I was going to nominate this pokemon to at first, however after looking at the VR and my above nominations I think it's a crime to let this Pokemon stay in C. NP TR is very VERY good and I think it can be even better with more testing and use. Once you've gotten your NP and TR up, this thing is quite hard to deal with, and even TR on it's own can let you start clapping shit with just your two attacks. Electrium Z let's you hit Spiritomb and Skarmory, I wouldn't run anything else for this reason. While I do understand Oranguru's original positioning, especially with the rise of lunatone I think it's time for this pokemon to rise. TR NP is fat and harder to RK than lunatone, and has complete speed priority (for a limited number of turns) this is a trade off, but a worthwhile trade off in my opinion. I certainly think this pokemon is better than the likes of Volbeat, Heatmor, and Minior.
D/C- to C+
After some testing, this mon is actually not as horrible as the VR depicts, and I think this is more of a clarity change to make the VR more visually correct. I think offenisve SR is kinda of nice in the wish meta, I would say give this mon some more love. I don't think it's as bad as Tropius and CO. I think it's much more on par with with the C+ pokemon.
Drops:
S to A+
Alomomola is a very strong wall right now, but I don't think it quite deserves that S rank it has right now. A lot of wall and stallbreakers are potent right now, and Alo let's a lot of them go crazy. Running Knock or Scald pretty much leaves you free to most sweepers and the ice beam set allows it to beat coil zydog but then let's it lose to a huge amount of sweepers. Substitute breakers are very nice right now as they can dodge Alos attempt to toxic them. Speaking of Toxic, a lot of pokemon are running toxic right now, and as a wishpasher that's not immune to Toxic in one way or another, Alo has a very strong flaw, especially when tspikes is as strong as it is now. It gets a lot of competition for it's position as a wall, as it's either competing with the other two resident wish passers, or Qwilfish, as it is a defensive water with utility outside of wish. Overall I think this mon is very good and better than the other wish passers, but it's not a S rank level dominating mon in my opinion.
A+ to A
Druddigon is cool and easy to throw on a team, however the special wallbreakers that are dominant right now really give this pokemon a problem. Lunatone, Sigilyph, Oricorio all give it significant issues, thanks to their impressive power. Taunt is becoming more prevalent right now, and taunt really shuts this set down which is why I'm not to keen on it being in A+ as I don't think it's as deserving as other pokemon. Although it does sport nice bulk I don't think that it should be run as a specially defensive wall as I think it gets pressured to much. I think offensive sets would be better with this pokemon, but that's a whole other can of worms. I think this drop would make it more inline with other pokemon in the metagame.
B to C+
Mimiktrash! As a walbreaker it's very mediocre compared to other pokemon in the metagame, I honestly would rather use Mawile as a wallbreaker than this pokemon, but it has disguise so that's always debatable. But offensively I think it's easily on par with Mawille. Not only this but it's TR niche is dong since it gets countered so hard by god the TR counter. I really just would not use this mon unless you want anxiety and depression.
B- to C
Chatot is outclassed by both the oricorios in every way shape and form, but boomburst hits hard.
B- to C
Tauros is very interested on first glance, but I don't know why you would run this thing over Kangha, Bouf or Zangoose consistently enough to merit B-. It's speed tier is cool, but it struggles with ghost types too much for me to really condone the use of this pokemon. The other previously mentioned normal types are just better wallbreakers in my opinion and the only thing keeping this mon from C- is it's speedtier.
Some nominations I think that should be though about:
S to A+
A to A+
A- to B+
B to B+
I'm also supporting all of Cheryl's above nominations
